FTI Wins $750,000 US Navy Decision Support Contract
7/31/06
Frontier Technology, Inc. (FTI) announced award of a Department of the Navy contract to develop an affordability analysis tool suite tailored for use on important design trades for the Navy’s Acquisition Organizations for Ships and Integrated Weapon Systems.
The tool suite will be applicable to modifications, enhancements, or new systems, enabling the program manager, technologist, analyst or system planner to conduct cost effectiveness evaluations and a business case to document the return-on-investment of a planned ship development or enhancement.
This methodology creates an interactive trade space to assess the cost versus benefit of different technologies or design alternatives. The trade space also integrates risk and schedule considerations to produce cost-as-an-independent-variable reports that are traceable back to Navy warfighter priorities and needs.
For each decision factor, the suite integrates the community-accepted models and data sources into an easy to use, graphical interface for the Navy and Department of Defense community. The primary focus of this research is to enhance an already existing infrastructure to provide an effective capability for use by the Navy.
FTI is also implementing the tool suite with subcontractor Northrop Grumman Ship Systems (NGSS) located in Pascagoula, MS. |
