FTI's DMSP Business Unit provides visibility into program costs and technical performance with a superior set of services and tools used to investigate issues related to primarily DoD complex system acquisition and operational decision making. FTI integrates cost, performance, schedule and risk into one seamless decision space that enables a structured, comparative evaluation for alternative architectures, systems, and technologies. These services and products enable assessments of affordability, systems engineering, performance, scheduling, risk, cost estimating and Business Case Analyses. DMPS consists of the following focused business areas.
Economic Solutions
FTI provides its customers with the cost estimating and affordability analysis services to assess the affordability of programs to support proposed budgets and to help keep programs funded. This includes economic analyses and tool refinement to assess the investment cost and affordability of new programs, modification or enhancements including development, production, and operation and support (O&S) costs, O&S savings generated by replacing older equipment with new technologies having lower operating costs, and the resulting return-on-investment. Currently, FTI's services are focused on analysis and research using a combination of FTI's own tools as well as community-accepted tools such as ACEIT and SEER. Several innovative methodologies for assessing the cost and affordability of military systems and technologies, and developing and documenting a Business Case Analysis (BCA) have been established and used successfully.
Trade Solutions
This business area provides services and products necessary to support the full spectrum of primarily DoD system acquisition decisions including programs ranging from early concept development trades through programs conducting sustainment trade-off analysis. The analysis typically focuses on determining performance or utility of potential solutions, supporting risk assessments, identifying schedule considerations and integrating a source of cost data to create a performance versus cost trade space. FTI analysts provide expertise in systems engineering, requirements analysis, program scheduling, programmatic and technical risk assessments, and other general program support services that are necessary to help customers quickly and effectively determine the most cost-effective, value-based solutions. FTI services are focused on using a combination of FTI's own tools as well a community-accepted analysis infrastructure.
Studies and Analysis
FTI designs and conducts formal studies and analyses of client decision problems using the most advanced and valid quantitative and qualitative methodologies. Where appropriate methodologies or analytical models do not exist, FTI develops them for their clients.
