Principal Engineer

 
Duties
  • Support documentation, update and linking of ATE requirements using requirements tracking tools
  • Facilitate the conduct of high-level architecture and requirements trade studies
  • Support generation of selected DODAF architecture views
  • Create and implement a Cost As an Independent Variable (CAIV) plan, facilitate trade studies and related CAIV analyses, and submit regular CAIV reports
  • Conduct training for CAIV team members on CAIV and Reduced Total Ownership Cost (RTOC) principles, as well as training on the use of FTI’s I-CAIV® trade space tool
  • Conduct ATE trade studies, including development of decision-space criteria and measures of effectiveness (MOEs) for the performance, cost, schedule, and risk dimensions of the Integrated Cost As an Independent Variable® (I-CAIV®) trade space
  • Develop appropriate MOE thresholds, objectives, and utility functions so each candidate, design trade, or concept can be evaluated
  • Support meetings of CAIV team and other IPTs
  • Lead on-site FTI analysis team
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years related experience
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated technical expertise and management experience using initiative and independent judgment
  • Ability to interact at top levels of client organization and lead programs with maximum client importance, high visibility, and financial impact
  • Demonstrated technical and analysis skills on ATE or similar DoD programs
  • Hands-on experience with Requirements Management Tools such as DOORS or Rationale Tool Suite
  • Familiarity with DODAF guidance and OV, SV, and TV generation process
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and schedule tasks among a distributed team necessary to create detailed CAIV analysis reports
  • Comprehension of multi-criteria decision making processes
  • Working knowledge of DoD CAIV policies/requirements
  • Familiarity with standard DoD risk analysis and project management principles
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • US citizenship with ability to obtain a government security clearance
