The I-CAIV® Approach |
|
The I-CAIV® assessment framework is an analytical environment for assimilating the complex multivariate data supporting large trade studies or portfolio analysis. The environment provides direct traceability to requirements and alternative performance parameters from anywhere is the assessment process. This traceability provides insight into how the combined influences of key alternative characteristics affect their overall performance.
I-CAIV® establishes an assessment process framework.
- Link prioritized requirements to alternative attributes
- Generate and prioritize concepts /solutions to address needs
- Link analytical results of concept evaluations to the process
- Trace technology improvements to evaluate impacts at system level
- Perform automated sensitivity analyses for “What-if” assessments
I-CAIV® archives and employs analysis results (via both qualitative and quantitative methods) to support the decision making process.
- Evaluates changes in existing system effectiveness resulting from potential new concepts or upgrades to existing systems
- Facilitates analysis at mission, architecture, system, subsystem, or component level consistent with user needs
- Incorporates externally generated cost data for integration with effectiveness
This traceability is based on a framework of linked data input matrices that reflect user prioritization of decision criteria and measures and user assessment or automated data scoring of alternatives vs. the criteria/measures. This assessment is performed in any number of user-defined independent dimensions such as performance, cost, risk, etc.
