The Problem Electronic systems are integral to the functionality of systems and their reliability is a critical element of healthy system performance but: They fail more abruptly than mechanical components. Wear and damage is difficult to detect and inspect due to the geometric scale of electronic parts and their complex architecture. Early faults in electronic parts may not necessarily lead directly to failure particularly in redundant systems. It is difficult to quantify system degradation and accurately predict progression from fault to failure. NormNet has detected problems in power supplies, GPS receivers and other complex electronic equipment even when redundant systems are in place In the charts on the left,  normal operations of the GPS receive are indicated by the close tracking between the actual and predicted NormNet® graphs.
