The ROS™ Approach |
|
FTI's Resource Optimization System (ROS™) seeks the best spending/investment profile for a complex mix of task requirements and systems with distinct costs, capabilities and technical maturities. ROS™ uses a proven military optimization model for capital investment and resource allocation to assess the maximum possible system capability within the constraints of budget and schedule.
An analysis using ROS™ begins with construction of a value-focused model which identifies capability requirements and the alternatives available to accomplish those requirements. The model prioritizes the required capabilities and scores the ability of solutions to deliver capabilities. FTI's I-CAIV® is well-suited for constructing the value model using the knowledge of subject matter experts. Priorities and scores can also be entered directly into ROS™.

ROS™ provides intuitive data entry, data validation and graphics for the value model as well as the estimated annual costs for each alternative, development schedules, and yearly budgets. Once data entry is completed, the user can run the optimization model with a single mouse click.
ROS™ provides easy, seamless access to the powerful optimization capability of the AeroSpace Integrated Investment Software (ASIIS). ASIIS was jointly developed by the Air Force Office of Aerospace Studies and the Air Force Space Command. ROS™ sends data to ASIIS, and collects the ASIIS output.
Results are automatically displayed by ROS™ when the optimization run is completed. ROS™ provides efficient and powerful support for "What–If" drills, including comparison reports. The analyst will quickly be able to identify key drivers, perform budget and force-mix excursions, and conduct schedule-cost tradeoffs.
