Frontier Technology, Inc. Wins USMC Light Armored Vehicle Contract
7/18/06
Frontier Technology, Inc. (FTI) announced that the US Marine Corps has selected NormNet™ patented technology from FTI to provide
prognostic analysis and early warning problem detection as part of its Phase II Sense-Respond program for the LAV-25. The
Sense-Resopnd program is designed to increase vehicle availability and reliability by detecting problems early, taking
appropriate action, speeding repairs, and reducing down time that might affect the effectiveness of the mission or the
safety of the warfighters. Sense-respond refers to the ability to sense the state of the vehicle and to respond at all
levels – from the operator to the maintenance staff to the battlefield commander.
Under its contract, FTI will receive and process data from ten LAV’s that have been equipped with new sensors and on-board
computers and are being tested. NormNet™ will be used to evaluate the operation of the entire vehicle and to provide early
indications of abnormalities in its operation. During the initial tests, vehicle sensor data will be obtained from a server
and processed on FTI computers. In the future, NormNet™ will be installed in the on-board computer in each vehicle with
information being immediately available to the driver and vehicle commander.
The project, including FTI’s capabilities, will be showcased at the DoD Maintenance Symposium and Exhibition to be held
October 23-26 in Reno, NV. Check this website for further details in the upcoming weeks.
