Frontier Technology, Inc. Wins $1M USAF Contract
11/29/05
Frontier Technology, Inc. (FTI) announced award of an Air Force Research
Laboratory (AFRL) research contract for Lean Project Management. This
research focuses on an issue in many development projects: Unrealistic
project schedules for system and technology acquisitions. These unrealistic
schedules can lead to poor investment decisions, a significant issue
that has been highlighted by high-level officials within the Department
of Defense and supporting industry. The result of this research will
be training acquisition managers to make more effective investment
decisions based on FTI’s training and advanced computer tools.
FTI will develop innovative techniques to plan, manage and execute
development projects. This research will apply the principles of “Lean
Project Management” to programs within the DoD acquisition environment.
Applying “lean techniques”, such as Critical Chain Project
Management, may be the most promising approach available today to
reduce development cycle time and cost of critical system development
projects. With tools provided from this research, and knowledge gained
to create an improved investment decision space, project managers
can more effectively plan and execute system acquisition projects
to support the warfighter.
Frontier Technology, Inc. (FTI), a nation-wide small business with offices in Reston, VA, Dayton, OH, Beverly, MA, Colorado Springs, CO, and Santa Barbara, CA.
