FTI Management Team
Mr. Shroder is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/President of Frontier Technology, Inc. (FTI) and Chairman of the Board. He has nearly 35 years of diversified technical and management experience in DoD, Commercial and other Federal markets. The majority of his time has been working for two small businesses, each having grown orders of magnitude during his tenure. The businesses have consistently been focused on providing Research and Development / Information Technology Services and Products to assist the client base to make better and more informed acquisition and operational informed decisions. During his tenure, FTI was awarded, during a White House Ceremony, the prestigious SBA Tibbetts Award for the very best in Federal Innovative Research. Clients he has personally dealt with include DoD, NASA, GAO, USDA, NSF, USPS, FAA, Coast Guard, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, SAIC, ITT, GD, BAE, and the commercial sector. He is a current member of the Governor’s Ohio Aerospace and Aviation Technology Committee (OAATC) and is past National President for the Defense Planning and Analysis Society (DPAAS).
Mr. Bies joined Frontier Technology (FTI) in October 2002 when FTI acquired Advantsys Inc., a company he founded and held the positions of President and Chief Executive Officer. Since joining FTI he has taken lead of the commercial IT division of FTI and more than doubled the group's revenue. In July 2004, the commercial division spun out to better facilitate its growth and FTI Services was created. FTI Services is a wholly-owned subsidiary of FTI. Through Walt's leadership, his team continues to expand its technical capabilities as well as expand to geographic markets through out California.
Prior to joining FTI, he has owned and operated several IT related businesses, including Computer Doctor, Direct Connect and Advantsys. His entrepreneurial spirit and savvy business skills are key reasons why he has served on several boards of directors, and was often asked to attend entrepreneur round table sessions. He works as a trusted advisor for many of his clients, ranging from small professionals to large scale enterprise businesses.
Mr. Andrews has over twenty five years combined business management and systems development experience. He is currently the Senior Vice President of Operations for FTI overseeing operations in Chesapeake, Virginia; Huntsville, Alabama; Dayton, Ohio; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Beverly, Massachusetts. He brings a diverse business experience background and has had extensive interface with government customers. His diverse business experience and education has aided him in developing strong skills in business development, program/project management, strategic planning, budget planning and execution, and data analysis. Currently he leads teams providing subject matter expertise, scientists, and system development/analysis for the government entities such as NAVSEA, Fleet Forces Command, PACFLT, Information Dominance Forces, Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, Missile Defense Agency, Navy Training, Navy, Army, USMC, USAF and other government entities. Mr. Andrews’ primary focus since joining FTI two years ago has been the commercialization of FTI products and services, and furthering these products/services within both the government and industry. During his first two years Mr. Andrews has been able to drive over $40M of commercialization dollars within the government. Mr. Andrews is PMP certified and holds both an MBA in Technology Management and a BSBA in Management.
Mr. Shirley is the Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning and Program Development for FTI. In this role, Mike is focused on continuing the dramatic growth the company has achieved over the last several years. Mike is a very successful business development professional, capture manager and profit and loss leader. Air Force veteran with a Top Secret security clearance. Top performer with exceptional interpersonal, oral and writing communication skills that allow the development of a strong rapport with individuals on all levels. Adept at analyzing and solving problems, developing and instituting the needed procedures and responses. Results oriented, highly motivated to succeed. Energetic and assertive, skilled at the coordination and implementation of multi-faceted operational procedures in established operations. Professional attitude with pride in personal performance.
Mr. Kirkpatrick is Vice President of Operations at FTI. He brings over ten years of experience leading, managing and growing Federal business programs. James leads the Integrated Enterprise Solutions Operations Group located in FTI’s Chesapeake, VA office, providing a suite of enterprise solutions designed to support our customers’ Integrated Product Support (IPS) needs. Our solutions are supported by an experienced staff providing our customers program management, training, business process automation, subject matter expertise, and engineering services. James joined FTI in 2015 and focuses on capturing new federal business, providing strategic direction to our clients and FTI, establishing rapid and flexible acquisition strategies for our clients, and mentoring FTI’s future leaders. He is a PMI certified PMP and an ASQ certified Six Sigma Black Belt. James received his Bachelors in Operations Management from James Madison University, and his MBA from Old Dominion University.
Mr. McGuffey has over 25 years of operational, business management, and systems engineering/development experience. He is currently the Vice President of Operations for FTI overseeing operations in Chesapeake, Virginia; Huntsville, Alabama; Dayton, Ohio; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Beverly, Massachusetts. His business acquisition and technical background in airborne and space sensor development and operations has built his credibility to interface with government customers as both a developer and previous operator of USAF weapons systems. His business experience and education has enabled him to develop strong skills in program/project management and execution, strategic and budget plans. Currently, he leads teams providing subject matter expertise, scientists, and system development/analysis for the government entities such as NAVSEA, Fleet Forces Command, PACFLT, Information Dominance Forces, Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, Missile Defense Agency, Navy Training, Navy, Army, USMC, USAF and other government entities.
Mr. McGuffey holds an MBA in Aviation Management, from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, MS in Systems Engineering/Physics from the Air Force Institute of Technology, an MS in Strategic Resource planning from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science/Russian language from the United States Air force Academy.
Mr. Henrich is Vice President for Frontier Technology, Inc. (FTI), focused on FTI's Products. He has over 33 years of diversified engineering and management experience in DoD and commercial markets. Todd is responsible for the development and oversight of FTI’s decision support product portfolio. He leads a team of subject matter experts who are responsible for identification of customer needs, development and delivery of IT product solutions, and leadership of FTI’s Intellectual Property initiatives.
In previous roles, he has been responsible for all business, technical and management decisions associated with business areas focused primarily on identification, development, and implementation of unique customer solutions while working for General Dynamics, GE Aviation, and Alliant Techsystems.
Mr. Conroy is the Vice President of Business Development at Frontier Technology, Inc. (FTI). He has nearly 13 years of program management experience in decision support and satellite and space operations. At FTI, he has been responsible for all business, technical, and management decisions associated with the Alternatives Assessments Business Area. This business area focuses on establishing credible traceability from warfighter requirements to cost-effective solutions. The high technology services provided include decision making and tracing and CAIV and trade analysis. He serves as the I-CAIV® Product Manager to ensure effective implementation of I-CAIV® and to guide the evolution of the tool. He is also a member of the Society for Cost Estimating and Analysis (SCEA), Colorado Springs Chapter.
Dr. Murdock, the Vice President of Technology, over the last forty years has been a leader in 1) the development of IR sensors, science and technology; 2) the processes utilized in E-O sensor data collection, performance evaluation and calibration; 3) reduction, analysis and modeling of geophysical data; and 4) the application of this knowledge to space systems design and operation. He was a Co-Investigator on the NASA Cosmic Background Explorer (Two PIs won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2006 for the results of this program), and was responsible for the certification of the scientific accuracy and precision of the BMDO Midcourse Space Experiment (MSX) database.
He is leading efforts to define the requirements for the calibration sources and to implement the ground and on-orbit calibration and performance verification techniques and analysis needed for future civilian and DoD systems. He has hands-on experience in design, fabrication, testing, calibration, data analysis and signal exploitation from space-based and ground-based optical (UV-VIS-IR) multi-spectral and hyperspectral sensing systems.
Mr. Batty is the Director of Corporate Staff Operations for Frontier Technology, Inc. (FTI). He has more than 40 years of highly diversified technical and management experience across a broad range of military, government civilian, and private industry job assignments. Throughout his career he has specialized in developing and leading people to achieve success as individuals and as members of high-performing organizations.
Mr. Batty also serves as a senior advisor, assisting the President/CEO to identify and develop strategies, opportunities, and initiatives for sustained profitable growth of the company. He serves as a change agent to effect the migration of FTI culture consistent with the expanding business experience.
