Human Performance Modeling in the Naval Capabilities Development Process

Abstract: The Affordability Analysis Tool Suite consists of the Integrated Cost As an Independent Variable (I-CAIV) analysis of alternatives software, the Integrated Cost Estimation (ICE) cost estimating software and other analysis tools that estimate total ownership costs, and provide performance trades associated with ship readiness. These tools integrate with the Engineering & Supportability Decision System (ESDS) software enabling users to dynamically load cost data, metrics, and other information. This company, specializing in Life Cycle Management Solutions, seeks DoD prime contractors, and commercial clients/partners interested in applying the Affordability Analysis Tool Suite to a range of subject scenarios, to predict potential system acquisition/sustainment issues before they occur. The standalone tools can be adapted to the analysis of a variety of equipment and weapon systems.

DoD Maintenance Symposium and Exhibition

13 November 2012
Grand Rapids, MI
DeVos Place Convention Center - BOOTH 539
Frontier Technology, Inc. (FTI) was selected as one of only six finalists in the Great Ideas competition at the DoD Maintenance Symposium and Exhibition. Our paper, entitled “IMPROVING THE BENEFITS OF MAINTENANCE EFFECTIVENESS REVIEWS” is based on the Maintenance Aware Design Environment (MADe) from PHM Technology, Pty. Ltd.

A Maintenance Effectiveness Review (MER), in which maintenance programs are periodically reviewed for effectiveness, is a continuous improvement program that provides the opportunity to evaluate and enhance the use of Condition Based Maintenance. MADe is a model-based tool that provides the information required to perform an effective MER process, including mapping actual performance to the current RCM analysis, with the objective of ensuring that in-place processes are optimized based on actual system performance. The tool provides the basis for an ongoing MER process, by ensuring consistency of the analysis process, based on consistent nomenclatures and data definitions. It ensures that the goal of continuous improvement is achieved in an orderly, but rigorous manner.
