FTI strives to provide the best in products and engineering services


he FTI Team combines proven management procedures, committed experienced technical professionals, and effective corporate support as the means to integrate professional support services within and across the Virtual Syscoms. FTI has a long and successful history of creating and managing teams that function together to ensure that contract objectives are attained, cost savings realized and customer satisfaction is high. FTI’s experience and approach to managing the Seaport-e team is detailed in the Subcontractor Approach. The ability of the Team to institute best practices and reduce cost is demonstrated on many of the contracts listed in Table A.

Team uses fundamental leadership and management principles to ensure that each task receives the right mix of technical and support personnel. The Team’s commitment to risk mitigation techniques and continuous improvement ensure the use of best practices and realization of committed cost savings.

The member contract interfaces operate in a seamless fashion to provide the high level of support required by the Seaport-e contract and associated tasks. The Team relationship provides extensive capabilities while providing a single face to the customer.

The team offers a staff of experienced and trained managers and technical staff who will:


Operate within a responsive and effective management infrastructure.


Provide timely, high quality professional support from its pool of resources.


Maintain staff members with knowledge and expertise in the proposed functional areas.


Access resource pools for quick response to dynamic situations and fluctuating workloads.


Respond to changing customer requirements using proven processes and procedures.

FTI has a long history of working with its customers to develop and apply methodologies that result in significant cost savings for both current and future projects.

Using FTI’s cost reduction methodologies ensures that the Virtual SYSCOM receives the benefit of current best practices and future cost reductions. FTI’s approach to cost savings derives from four key areas:


Task management plans that apply best practices and lessons learned and are used to monitor task performance

FTI begins each task with a detailed task management plan that includes the use of subject matter experts, best practices, risk mitigation plans and technology reviews to ensure that the task is being performed in the most cost effective manner.


Resource allocation using experienced staff as both participants and mentors

Members of the FTI Team are selected for assignment to a task based on the applicability of their experience and skills. They may be assigned to a task for the amount of time needed perform their assigned work. The timely use of skilled resources as both task participants and mentors enables each task to be completed cost-effectively while ensuring that a pool of trained people is available for future tasks. This approach expands the number of staff members with knowledge of a task area and provides growth opportunities for team members.


Continuous improvement program that results in cost reduction opportunities

The Team encourages its employees to participate in continuous improvement by making recommendations that reduce cost or improve productivity. FTI Team members are consistently evaluating task performance and looking for methods by which it can be improved or enhanced while still achieving task goals.


Application of Technology

The application of technology is a key mechanism for improved productivity and cost savings. FTI will use tools that it has developed that have resulted in manpower requirement reductions and cost savings to other customers. FTI has been successful in developing technology through DoD Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) contracts or employee initiative that increases quality and reduces cost for our customers. The Team brings over $20 million dollars of investment in decision support tools that have been adopted by the Air Force Material Command. These tools, and the experience developing them, show FTI’s ability to increase quality and decrease cost to our customers.
